Family-conscious personnel policy is very important at the institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Flexible working time models, family-friendly working conditions and attractive childcare facilities close to the institute should make it easier for parents to reconcile child and career and to quickly regain a foothold in their profession during or after parental leave.

Childcare places

Since August 2010, the Fraunhofer Institutes on Winterbergstrasse offer support for employees in finding childcare places. For this purpose, the Fraunhofer Institute Center IZD, the Capital of Saxony Dresden and the Thüringer Sozialakademie gGmbH, as independent sponsor of several day care centers, have entered into a cooperation for a total of 25 childcare places. Up to the agreed contingent, IZD employees can thus be offered a place at “Seidnitzer Krümel” and “Seidnitzer Stadtmäuse”.


If you as an IZD employee are interested in a childcare place in one of the two day-care centers listed above, simply contact Ms. Jana Junge.

She will provide you information about general possibilities of care, free day-care places and about the registration. The quota credit and cost calculation can only be considered if the registration is submitted via the IZD, Ms. Junge. Ms. Junge will forward your binding registration to the appropriate day-care center. Comprehensive information about the services offered by the day-care center is available on request from the institution or from the Thüringer Sozialakademie gGmbH. In the event of changes (cancellation/rejection, address, employer, etc.), please inform Ms. Junge or the institution immediately.
